Our School Tour

We recently went on our school tour to Wooly Ward's farm.

The tour was a great success. There were lots of different animals to see, crafts to make, cookies to decorate and animals to feed.

Have a look at some of the adventures we got up to ....

Trying to get throw the laser limbo at the farm

We had rabbits sit on our laps!

We thought they felt lovely and soft

Inside the shed we made pig magnets

We also got to hold other animals .. can you guess what this animal is?
We fed some hungry goats

He was very very hungry!!

We also fed the goat some grass

We got to ride on the train
And climb on a wooden tractor

We even went into a barn to see a very funny show

We searched the fairy wood for fairies

And listened for their soft voices

Then we went looking for MAD Mary in the woods!!!!

We found MAD Mary's bed ...
And her smelly duck ... who we gave a bath!!
Unfortunately we never found MAD Mary, we think she was out shopping for the day.

We had such a wonderful time on the farm, thank you to all the staff who made it so enjoyable for us!

Cillian did a super job at telling jokes to the whole school. We certainly thought he was excellent.

Well done Cillian !

How fit are you?!

Our topic this term is all about Sports and Hobbies.
We have been learning about different exercises and sports that we can do to stay healthy and fit.

Our role play corner has been turned into a 'gym' for the next few weeks so that we can try out new exercises.

This Monday was an unusual one for everyone in room 4! We got to go on an adventure to the local gym.

We were treated like royalty and showed around all the different exercise rooms.

We were shown how to use a treadmill ..

We saw all the different weights machines ..

We saw the bikes that are used for spinning classes ..

Some of us even got to try out the machines !!!!

Lots of new words were introduced to us by the gym instructor such as 'Cardio', 'Weights', 'Lats' and 'Pecs'. We tried really hard to remember these words for our gym corner in class!

Exercise classes have already started in our gym corner - we don't hang around in room 4!!

Chick it out !

We have been learning all about Animals this month in room 4 - animals that live in the wild, on a farm and in a zoo.

SPECIAL DELIVERY:

We were SO excited this Monday as some extra special visitors came to 'chick us out'. We got a delivery of 5 eggs which in 48 hours were going to hatch into tiny baby chicks ....

The incubator helped the eggs stay nice and warm - the perfect hatching environment for our baby chicks.

We waited and waited all day Monday for those chicks to hatch . . . we monitored their every move ...

Eventually on Tuesday morning at 10.30 our very first tiny chick appeared through the cracks! We called it 'Fluffy' . Our excitement was contagious !!!

Two more chicks hatched that day. We called them 'Cookie' and 'Sam'. We now have a family of three chicks in Rm 4. We moved the chicks into their brooder , this is their new home. Our job is very important , we have to feed the chicks, give them plenty of water and make sure they are loved.

We reckon we are up for the challenge!!

UPDATE: Over the course of the two weeks we cared for the little chicks and loved having them in our classroom. Eventually it was time to send the chicks to a new home. We miss them very much!

Busy busy Bees!!

We have been extra busy the past few weeks in Room 4.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears came to visit our classroom. Our favourite childhood bears got to take part in our role-play area!!

Daddy bear, Mammy bear and baby bear also joined us in some reading after they chased Goldilocks out of their home:

We have also been busy learning some Irish Dancing for our Céilí - keep an eye out for our next post to see our dance moves!

Spring is here

We have a new theme in Senior Infants that we are learning about : Houses and Homes.

We have been exploring all the different types of homes around the world that people live in.

Our imaginations have been put to the test as we conjured up our 'Imaginary Dream Homes'.

In Science we have been learning about the materials that are used to build houses.

During Aistear we have been building our own houses for the 3 little pigs in our construction site, we think the bricks are the best materials to use!

We have some very efficient builders in Rm 4 !!!

The Small World and Finger gym stations have also been very creative , have a look at some of our amazing home designs:
