We have been learning all about Animals this month in room 4 - animals that live in the wild, on a farm and in a zoo.
SPECIAL DELIVERY:
We were SO excited this Monday as some extra special visitors came to 'chick us out'. We got a delivery of 5 eggs which in 48 hours were going to hatch into tiny baby chicks ....
The incubator helped the eggs stay nice and warm - the perfect hatching environment for our baby chicks.
We waited and waited all day Monday for those chicks to hatch . . . we monitored their every move ...
Eventually on Tuesday morning at 10.30 our very first tiny chick appeared through the cracks! We called it 'Fluffy' . Our excitement was contagious !!!
Two more chicks hatched that day. We called them 'Cookie' and 'Sam'. We now have a family of three chicks in Rm 4. We moved the chicks into their brooder , this is their new home. Our job is very important , we have to feed the chicks, give them plenty of water and make sure they are loved.
We reckon we are up for the challenge!!
UPDATE: Over the course of the two weeks we cared for the little chicks and loved having them in our classroom. Eventually it was time to send the chicks to a new home. We miss them very much!
